The Breathable-Wall Principle

When a damp concrete or masonry wall is sealed with a conventional, low-permeability plastic paint, the water vapor migrating outward gets trapped between the substrate and the paint film. This is the "pocket effect": accumulated moisture that causes blistering and premature peeling, keeping the substrate persistently damp — the exact condition mold needs to colonize.
